I Am a Fossil Researcher

The first workshop of this year’s Museum Children’s Summer was held on Saturday, August 4, in the area in front of the Risovača Cave.

The children were first introduced to the work of a paleontologist and then got a chance to try it themselves. Using tools that a real researcher would use, they searched in the sand for fossil remains of animals from the Ice Age.

They then observed a fossilized sponge, several million years old, as well as a tooth of a cave bear through a microscope.

The final activity of this workshop was creating giant flowers from the dinosaur era, for which we used various types of bottle caps, demonstrating to the children how a discarded item can be used creatively while also protecting nature from pollution.

To end the workshop, at the request of all participants, we also visited our Risovača Cave.

The next workshop, scheduled for August 11, will focus on ethnology and will cover embroidery.

A reminder that children need to register for participation by calling 712-415.
