Museum Children’s Summer Completed

The Museum Children’s Summer was concluded with the workshop “Symbols of the First Serbian Uprising.”

This year, we explored themes in archaeology, ethnology, and history.

In the first workshop, titled “Once Upon a Time, in a Kingdom,” we discussed the lives of Serbian kings and queens in the Middle Ages, how their appearance and attire can be deduced from fresco depictions, and how this knowledge helped us create and decorate royal crowns ourselves.

Next were two ethnology workshops, “Thread by Thread – Kilim” and “The Old House – As Long as You Preserve It, You Endure Too.” These workshops produced small kilims, woven by children’s hands, and models of houses and other structures that were part of an old Šumadija homestead.

The final workshop, “Symbols of the First Serbian Uprising,” was held in Orašac, the site of the uprising, where we created soldiers’ uniforms.

We thank all our friends, the workshop participants, who showed great interest and a desire to learn something new and spend time with us.

Until next time.
